The Regional Tourism Services have the following missions:

1. to ensure the implementation, at the local level, of the department’s tourism policy and to see to it that the regulatory provisions are respected by the tourism organizations and enterprises within their territorial jurisdiction;
2. supervise and manage the activities of tourism organizations and businesses;
3. to keep local statistics on tourist accommodation establishments, travel agencies and other tourist businesses or professions, as well as on the payment of the Tourist Promotion Tax.

The Head of the Regional Tourism Department is appointed by order of the Minister from among government employees in the A or B hierarchy, or equivalent.
